This course trains health professionals in providing information and support to those undergoing testing for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and viral hepatitis.

Taking a comprehensive client history and risk assessment
Living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
Living with hepatitis C (HCV)
Basic counselling and communication skills

Post-test discussion and information
The course meets the requirements of the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009. Course content addresses the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) National Testing Policies.
On successful completion of this course participants will be considered a person of prescribed class under the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009 and the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. A person of prescribed class is authorised to deliver a positive HIV test result and provide the prescribed information as defined in the regulations.
